Bauer tackles Wood Tic Memorial at Merritt Speedway during emotional weekend
For the track's most prestigious weekend of racing, Cody Bauer invaded Merritt Speedway (Lake City, Mich.) on Friday afternoon to compete in the annual running of the Ed Vanduinen and Dan Shaley Memorial Wood Tic.
With a whopping 48 Late Models on hand, Bauer transferred to the preliminary feature through a B-Main after a runner-up finish. In the quick 40-lap feature, Cody recorded a 23rd-place outing.
For Saturday's $35,000-to-win finale, Cody just missed an A-Main transfer spot in his heat race and received a provisional starting spot for the main event after dealing with mechanical issues in his B-Main. During the lengthy 100-lap feature, Bauer moved forward 11 positions to finish 15th in the final rundown.
The weekend comes on the heels of Bob Wilson's death, Cody's car owner and friend. Race-winner Rusty Schlenk dedicated his win to the family and friends around Cody Bauer Racing.
